Off to Preschool

Mr. Toddler is going off to TWO year old preschool. I have signed him up for one day a week. Part of me can’t believe I am sending my two year old off to school. It is obvious that my precious boy, is no longer a baby. He reminds me of this on a daily basis! It is just so hard to believe that just yesterday he was born, and now he has grown from an infant to this “little being.” I have been with him every step of the way, we have laughed, we have played, we have loved, and we have learned together. His personality is contagious, and he is quite the character, he has his likes and dislikes, and he has energy and curiosity that will lead him to great things! And I of course just love him to pieces. And so I want the best for him, afterall what parent doesn’t.
But that doesn’t make it any easier to send him to preschool at the age of two. I had lots of “ifs,” will my child be ready, can he leave my side and enjoy and learn, is he really old enough to be somewhat independent, but then I listen to my friends, and I realize that preschool is the new kindergarten, and kindergarten is the new 1st grade. Our schools are already incorporating a foreign language into the preschool curriculum! So it became no question on whether to send him to school, and I think my little man is ready, but AM I? I still have lots of “ifs,” and I know that the first few times are going to be quite a challenge. For both me letting go of my baby, and for him taking his first steps at being independent. But I have no doubt that my little man will thrive.

The developers at Kiboomu have recently come out with the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone Application. I loved Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as a child, and my son is now a fan of the song too! This application is intuitive and helps teach children this classic song.
A little ABOUT this application:
With this play-a-song iPhone app, children can do the following:
- follow the lighted keys or match the colorful music notes to the piano keys
- watch the piano keys light up one by one with the song
- press the start button and sing along
- add animal sounds to the song
- hear the song played on a banjo, xylophone, harp, flute, bells and more!
- record your child singing and playing the piano!
- sing and read karaoke style lyrics in English, French & Spanish
My Review:
Mr. Toddler absolutely is a whiz at the iPhone, I think he knows how to work my phone better than I do. With that being said, I am always looking for fun and educational applications for my phone. So when I was given the chance to review the Twinkle Twinkle Piano iPhone application I was excited.
He was able to easily navigate this application, and he loves to play the piano keys. You are able to choose several different instruments for the sound, and you can even add animal sounds.
It also has several modes of play:
Mr. Toddler loves the free mode play, he likes to make up his own music. He also enjoys the karoake mode. This application definitely keeps his attention, and it is great when I need to keep him entertained. I would have to say that Mr. Toddler definitely would recommend this application to his friends! If you have a little one who loves music and nursery rhymes, I highly recommend this application.

I recently had the pleasure of working with CostumeSupercenter.com. I had the opportunity to review a costume, and the website certainly offers several choices for babies to adults. My 2 year old son is currently in love with dinosaurs! So when choosing a costume for him, I headed to the toddler costumes on the website, and was quite impressed with the selection of costumes. I found dinosaur costumes, and it was almost difficult to choose which dinosaur costume I wanted, as they all looked great! I opted for the Toddler Triceratops Costume, and was not disappointed.
I ordered the costume and the shipping was very quick, the costume arrived within days of placing the order. And when we took it out of the packaging, I was very happy with the quality. It was a very soft fleece on the outside of the costume, and the coloring was great! The one piece outfit had attached hands and feet that let your child slide their hand and feet in and out easily. It also came with the head piece which was super cute and also of great quality, with velcro closure. I couldn’t be more happy with the costume. My son was very excited about his dinosaur costume! And he can’t wait to wear it! Based on the quality, I know we will get lots of use out of this costume.

I want to prepare Mr. Toddler for the birth of his little sister. I came across this book on Amazon, and thought this book looks so cute, and would be perfect for him to learn about the baby.

I have checked out several books to prepare Mr. Toddler for the new arrival. But this book, “Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes” is the book that he asks me to read over and over again! This book is just simple and sweet. The book is all about how everyone has 10 fingers and 10 toes, a common link with us all. I highly recommend it for a young child about to become an older sibling.

I received one of the new Goodie Bags for this review and it is pretty cool-even my 2 year old son had fun playing with the contents. The Goodie bag includes a roto launcher (a spiraled plastic wand that shoots circular discs), sidewalk chalk, thunder sticks, and either a disc launcher or inflatable ball, depending on the franchise location. Moms are welcome to add other items of their choice.
My 2 year old particularly enjoyed the sidewalk chalk, he loved having us launch the roto launcher for him, and playing with the thunder sticks. These bags are a big hit because they include toys that encourage active play, and imagination, and they are quality items that children actually enjoy playing with.
