Christmas Hand Print Activities for Preschoolers
Dec 16th
Make a Hand Print Wreath
I have to say I love little ones hands, and it is fun to see how much they grow over the years. I have come across this idea on a few sites, but here is a link that lays it out easily on enchantedlearning.com. I am going to try this with Mr. Toddler. I think he will enjoy having me trace his hand. And I might even add in some finger painting, so he can color the hands I cut out prior to gluing them to the wreath. Make sure you put how old your child is on the back, so you can look back and remember.
Supplies needed:
Green construction paper
Red construction paper for the ribbon
Glue
Scissors
Paint, glitter or other add ons are optional
Hand and Foot Reindeer Craft
Another super cute activity using the child’s hands and feet! I also got this from enchantedlearning.com. You trace your child’s hands and a foot. Then you can decorate the reindeer. The hands are the antlers. Super cute. Add your child’s name and age on the back so you can remember when it was created.

My Snow Angel
Dec 4th
It has been quite an amazing week. My little Miss arrived at 38 weeks and 5 days, and I think she is just precious and of course my little early Christmas angel. We are going home from the hospital today, and it is snowing a pretty white snow, just for my “Snow Angel!”
As I have been sitting and watching her just look around so inquisitively or just sleep so peacefully, it makes you remember how sweet and innocent life really is. It makes you awe in the perfectness of a new life, one that you created out of love. And it makes you slow down, and just appreciate the pure joy of what “LIFE” has to offer.
Activity: Create a “Words I Know” Book for Toddlers
Dec 3rd
I really enjoy the ideas on Education.com, they always have great crafts and other learning activities for little ones on up into grade school. I just was sent this idea, and it is wonderful. I am currently working on identifying words of items that Mr. Toddler knows. He is able to identify the upper case alphabet, but has not yet figured out how to put them together to make a word. This book, idea by Samantha Harping is a wonderful idea to work on with your child, and allow them to really start recognizing words.
From the website: ”It all starts with a hunt. You know that speed limit sign your son gleefully points out each time your drive him to preschool, or that fast food sign your daughter can recognize at the drop of a hat? Well, you’re going to use those words to your advantage, and create a book your kid can read all by herself.
Start by telling your preschooler that you’re going on a word hunt. Strap on your walking shoes, grab the digital camera, and go for a walk or drive through your neighborhood to take pictures of familiar signs. These can be street signs, road signs, advertisements, or logos. Also consider the words your child can read in your home: cereal boxes or other food packaging, family members’ names, names of stores on ads in the newspaper, book titles and so on.
Once you’ve gathered all those recognizable words together, print out the pictures and glue each photo or word onto a half sheet of paper. Staple the pages together to make a simple book that your child can read independently.
Every book needs a cover. Ask your child to decorate a piece of cardboard or cardstock with the title “Words I Know” and be sure to have him list himself as the author. You can stop right there, or include an “About the Author” page complete with a photo of your child. Use your imagination and make sure to get your child involved!
While in the beginning, your child will likely be using memorization to recall the words, that won’t always be the case. As confidence grows, ask your child to look at the letters in each word. Ask simple questions: What letter does that word begin with? What sound does that letter make? Can you think of any other words that start with that sound?”
