Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!  Did everyone get enough CANDY? We have had so many fun activities this week.  From school carnivals, to preschool parties, and of course trick or treating!  Mr. Toddler had a wonderful week, I think he is going to wish every week was Halloween. He was not to fond of his dinosaur costume… my toddler has a mind of his own, and likes to do what he wants to do…so today he was Thomas the Train.  Here is a few candids from all of our festivities.

Halloween Healthy Treats

I came across these super cute Halloween treat ideas on familyfun.go.com, and I just had to share!  If you have big fans of Halloween in your house, these treats will be quite the hit.  Or great ideas for Halloween party treats!  These are “healthier” options that you can make and serve.   Below are just a few of my favorite ideas!  Here is a link for these tasty treats!  I can’t wait to try these out with Mr. Toddler!

Flavorful Phantoms

Ghost Toast Halloween Recipe

Ingredients
  • White Bread (1 slice per ghost)
  • Whipped cream cheese
  • Currants
Instructions
  1. For each, toast a slice of white bread and then cut a ghost shape from it. You can do this freehand using a knife, or you can use a gingerbread-girl cookie cutter.
  2. When the cutouts have cooled, spread on a generous coating of whipped cream cheese.
  3. For eyes and mouths, add currants. (I am going to substitute cut raisins for the this part!)

    Pizza Mummies

    Pizza Mummies

    Ingredients
    • English muffins
    • Pizza sauce
    • Black olives
    • Scallions
    • Red or green pepper
    • Cheese sticks or slices
    Instructions
    1. Heat the oven to 350º F. For each mummy, spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto half of an English muffin (toast it first, if you like).
    2. Set olive slices in place for eyes and add round slices of green onion or bits of red or green pepper for pupils.
    3. Lay strips of cheese (we used a pulled-apart cheese stick) across the muffin for the mummy?s wrappings.
    4. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the muffin is toasty.

      Banana Ghosts

      Banana Ghosts

Here’s a Halloween trick your child will have no trouble pulling off–turning a ripe banana into a Halloween treat.

Remove any stringy fibers from the peeled banana, then cut it in half widthwise. Push a Popsicle stick into each half through the cut end, then cover each pop with plastic wrap and freeze until firm (about 3 hours).

Next, place a 1.5-ounce piece of white chocolate candy in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high until melted (it generally takes about 1 minute). With a butter knife, spread the melted white chocolate on the frozen banana halves.

Set the pops on a waxed-paper-covered dish. Press on candies or currants for eyes and mouths and return the pops to the freezer until ready to serve. Makes 2

      Snack O Lantern

      Jack-O-Lantern Fruit Cup Halloween Recipe

      1. To make one lantern, use a small knife to slice the top off a navel orange and cut around its interior to hollow it out. Scoop out the orange segments, chop them, and mix them with canned or fresh fruit salad.
      2. Carve small facial features in one side of the orange, then cut a slit in the lid to accommodate the handle of a green plastic spoon. Fill the lantern with fruit salad. Insert the spoon and set the lid in place.

Review: Check out Costume Supercenter.com for your Halloween needs!

I recently had the pleasure of working with CostumeSupercenter.com. I had the opportunity to review a costume, and the website certainly offers several choices for babies to adults.   The site features costumes from over 50 categories! The website was really easy to navigate to find exactly what you are looking for.

My 2 year old son is currently in love with dinosaurs!  So when choosing a costume for him, I headed to the toddler costumes on the website, and was quite impressed with the selection of costumes.  I found dinosaur costumes, and it was almost difficult to choose which dinosaur costume I wanted, as they all looked great!  I opted for the Toddler Triceratops Costume, and was not disappointed.

Toddler Triceratops Costume

I ordered the costume and the shipping was very quick, the costume arrived within days of placing the order.  And when we took it out of the packaging, I was very happy with the quality.  It was a very soft fleece on the outside of the costume, and the coloring was great!  The one piece outfit had attached hands and feet that let your child slide their hand and feet in and out easily.  It also came with the head piece which was super cute and also of great quality, with velcro closure.  I couldn’t be more happy with the costume.  My son was very excited about his dinosaur costume!  And he can’t wait to wear it!  Based on the quality, I know we will get lots of use out of this costume.

I will definitely be shopping at CostumeSuperscenter.com again.  With Halloween around the corner, Costume Super Center is the perfect place for kids Halloween costumes, as well as for teens and adults.  They are your one stop shop for costumes period, everyone on your list can find a costume here!
