Mr. Toddler’s Santa Wish List
Nov 15th
Mr. Toddler’s favorite toys really are anything that deals with things that move! He loves Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. We have plenty of Thomas the Trains, Hot wheels, and Disney Cars characters. So I am trying to find things fun yet educational for him for his Santa Wish List.
Here are a few items from my list that are sure to please my little man!
SMALL WORLD TOYS CAT TAKE APART DUMP TRUCK:

PLAYSKOOL ALPHIE: I remember playing with something very similar as a child and loved it. I like this toy because it is fun yet educational!

MATER TALL TALES DVD: Since he loves the Disney Pixar “Cars,” I am sure this will be a big HIT too!

CLICKSTART LEAPFROG THOMAS THE TRAIN GAME:

LEGO DUPLO CARS MACK’s ROAD TRIP

V-Tech Kidizoom Digital Camera: Since he absolutely loves playing with my digital camera!

So these are just a few of my ideas…WHAT IS ON YOUR TODDLER/PRESCHOOL child’s SANTA wishlist this YEAR?
Make a Preschool Yearbook!
Sep 15th
Mr. Toddler is off on his great adventure to preschool, and really enjoying it! I am so glad that he is settling in to this routine, and making new friends.
I just came across this great idea on education.com, and thought this is to cute not to share! After all, they grow so much in these first few years– to be able capture the progress is just GREAT!
The article below is from the education.com website.
By Danielle Wood
Kids love to hear about themselves. And reading about themselves is even better! This personal yearbook will help them gather and record all the important moments and facts about their lives, as they make the march towards kindergarten. Plus, it makes a great keepsake.
![]()
You may think you’ll always remember the first time your child writes her name, draws a picture with facial features, or counts to 20 unassisted, but although it may seem fresh in your mind now, with time, it’s easy to forget the details. As your child works on her yearbook, she’ll be practicing reading, writing, and math. And you’ll have something to look back on later when preschool is a distant memory.
What You Need:
- Markers and crayons
- Family pictures
- Blank book or scrapbook
- Glue
- Tape Measure
What You Do:
The great thing about this yearbook is the fact that it’s personal…it can include whatever strikes your child’s fancy. Start things off with a title page that includes your child’s name, age, photo, and signature. Then, consider these ideas for what follows:
- Self portrait- Preschool brings a lot of change in drawing ability. Her pictures will likely move from cockeyed scribbles, to early human forms that look more like big blobs with matchstick legs, to pictures that are a lot more recognizable. At the beginning of the year, ask your child to draw a self-portrait. Leave a few of the following pages blank, so she can do the same thing at later points in the year. You’ll be surprised when you compare the pictures at year’s end!
- Measurements- How tall is your child? Measure her height, record her weight, and write down her shoe size. For a fun twist, you can also write down more obscure data, like her arm span or the circumference of her head. Leave some room, either below each entry, or on a following page, for updates throughout the year.
- Favorite Phrases and Expressions- Preschoolers say some pretty funny things. The next time your child comes up with a whopper, write it down on this page, with the date next to it. While, “No, I want to do it!” or “Burp-o-rama!” may not seem so charming now, it will be fun to know later that your child used to say these things a hundred times a day.
- Favorites Page- What’s your child’s favorite number? His favorite color? His favorite book and his favorite toy? Who is his best friend? Write down all of the things that make him who he is as a preschooler.
- When I Grow Up- Ask your child what he wants to be when he grows up, where he wants to live, and what he dreams his life will be like. Don’t question his reasoning, just record. If he says he wants to “live on a spaceship and you can come, too” write that down as is.
- Gallery- Not sure what to do with all that art work your child brings home from school? Glue it in for a permanent record of how she expresses herself at preschool age.
- Album- Be sure to include pictures of big events, whether a birthday party, your child’s first soccer practice, a special Valentine’s Day project, or whatever else is a big deal for your child and your family this year.
- Words I Can Write- At the beginning of the year, have your child write down any words he can write, unassisted. This may include just his name, or just his initials, or it may include much more. That’s fine. Leave the next few pages blank. As the year progresses, try this again every 3 months or so.
- Tell Me a Story- Early in the year, have your child tell you a story or a joke and write down verbatim what she says. Do this again several times over the course of the year. If she’d like, she can illustrate her story.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. What you decide to include is up to you, and as unlimited as your child’s imagination!
I am super excited to get started on this project with Mr. Toddler. I think I am going to use a three ring binder with plastic inserts. Great way to store artwork, and other fun things he does throughout the year.
The Big Sibling Book: Baby’s First Year According to ME
Sep 13th
I have been working to prepare Mr. Toddler for the arrival of his little sister in December. He is almost two and 1/2, and I think he gets the idea that a baby is growing in mommy’s tummy. But I don’t think he is totally prepared for her to actually BE HERE! We have been reading board books on babies, and big siblings.

The other day I was looking on Amazon for sibling books, and I found this adorable idea on Amazon. It is called, “The Big Sibling Book: Baby’s First Year According to ME, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.” I figure I wanted to start with Project Life when the baby is born, and so this will be a perfect little project for my little man. I am not sure how Mr. Toddler will be able to really complete this on his own, I think it will take some help from me, but the idea is GREAT! What fun catching the babies first year from the perspective of a toddler. Mr. Toddler loves to do arts and crafts, so this might be a great activity for us to do together, while his little sister is sleeping. I really think I have to order up one of these cute books.
Off to Preschool
Sep 3rd
Mr. Toddler is going off to TWO year old preschool. I have signed him up for one day a week. Part of me can’t believe I am sending my two year old off to school. It is obvious that my precious boy, is no longer a baby. He reminds me of this on a daily basis! It is just so hard to believe that just yesterday he was born, and now he has grown from an infant to this “little being.” I have been with him every step of the way, we have laughed, we have played, we have loved, and we have learned together. His personality is contagious, and he is quite the character, he has his likes and dislikes, and he has energy and curiosity that will lead him to great things! And I of course just love him to pieces. And so I want the best for him, afterall what parent doesn’t.
But that doesn’t make it any easier to send him to preschool at the age of two. I had lots of “ifs,” will my child be ready, can he leave my side and enjoy and learn, is he really old enough to be somewhat independent, but then I listen to my friends, and I realize that preschool is the new kindergarten, and kindergarten is the new 1st grade. Our schools are already incorporating a foreign language into the preschool curriculum! So it became no question on whether to send him to school, and I think my little man is ready, but AM I? I still have lots of “ifs,” and I know that the first few times are going to be quite a challenge. For both me letting go of my baby, and for him taking his first steps at being independent. But I have no doubt that my little man will thrive.
A Place To Display Mr. Toddler’s Artwork
Jul 28th
We all know that toddlers/pre-schoolers are always bringing home little crafts for us to display. I have been searching for a way to display Mr. Toddler’s artwork. I have seen a few options, but the cost was a little more than I would like to spend. I was thinking that I was going to make something, but then I found this great item at Homegoods. And I am so excited about the find that I have to share about it. It comes in pink and blue, and is affordable at 12.99, and I have to say I love it! We are in the process of moving Mr. Toddler to his big boy room, and this will fit perfectly. I can’t wait to hang it up!
I do not think this idea would be too difficult to recreate. You could take a piece of wood, paint it or let your little one decorate it, and then add on the clips!
Rhoost Baby-Proofing Products Review and Giveaway
Jun 24th
CLOSED
I was pleased to be invited to do a review of the Rhoost Collection of baby-proofing products. Since Mr. Toddler of course loves to run around and get into things we have looked into several baby proofing gadgets. I know that you can go to any baby or home-wares store and find safety items to cover outlets and sharp corners, keep cabinets and even toilets closed. However, most baby proofing items I’ve come across are constructed in big, white, obtrusive plastic, and really are not esthetically pleasing against your nice furniture or hardwood cabinets. Thanks to Mom Select and Rhoost we were able to try the Rhoost Baby Edge product which protects the corners of your sharp objects, be it tables, dressers, or cabinets.
So the Edge is made of a soft, black rubbery material and it easily covers the corners of our table. It was fairly easy to install, and did not require any screws. Since Mr. Toddler’s favorite thing to do is to run around the kitchen and chase the dog–I can’t tell you how many times he has hit his head on the corner of the table, I think this product is going to do the trick. I just placed it a few days ago.
But, don’t take my word for it. Rhoost wants my readers to be able to share in great baby safety products too!

Jun 8th
With summer upon us, and Mr. Toddler’s normal activity/early preschool classes not in session, I thought that I would spend some time reading to him everyday. I looked into area libraries reading programs, and they all offer over the summer reading clubs. You should check out your local libraries to see what is available near you.
Here is a few books that are appropriate for the toddler/preschooler.

Top Toddler Movies/DVD’s
May 5th
Here is a list of some wonderful movies that your toddler will love. Toddler’s brains are like sponges they absorb so much of the world around them, and they are very visual. So they really enjoy watching things full of color, musical, and animated. Mr. Toddler loves certain movies, and I know I have hit on a good one when he asks for it again and again.
1. Finding Nemo:
A story about an overprotective dad(Marlin) and his son(Nemo), as they get separated on Nemo’s first day of school. The scenery and music in the movie is great. The whole family can enjoy this movie. My son loves this movie.
2. Cars:
A hot-rod rookie Lightning McQueen lives in the fast lane, but soon learns that speed isn’t everything when a detour in Radiator Springs forces him to slow down and appreciate life. Mr. Toddler loves this movie, he runs his cars all over the house after watching the movie.
3. Toy Story:
This adorable story is about Woody a cowboy dolly, and Buzz Lightyear a space hero. The two fight over the prized status of being Andy’s top toy. The movie is entertaining as all the toys come to life.
4. Lion King:
“Acuna Matata” means no worries, it’s the problem free philosophy. The movie explores the life of Simba a young lion cub, and heir to his father’s(Mufasa’s) throne. Simba believes he caused his father’s death, and so he escapes into the jungle. Although his worries never leave him as he must become an adult and take responsibility. It definitely has some graphic scenes, and you might have to fast forward through portions of the movie.
5. Up:
This Pixar movie is about imagination and dreams. Carl a 78 year man is a retired balloon salesman who has his house take flight with balloons and travel on an adventure to South America.
6. Happy Feet:
The story about penguins. Mumbo is a baby penguin who does not have an ordinary heart song. Instead of being able to sing, he can dance. Mumbo’s dancing feet take him to helping the penguin community to once again have fish to eat.
7. Monsters, Inc.:
A city run by monsters, that runs on the screams of children. The premise of the movie is silly. A company that sends monsters through closet doors to frighten children and collect their screams! Top monster Sully learns the job is tricky if a child follows you back through the door and into the monster world.
8. Ice Age:
A great cast of prehistoric creatures deal with the coming of the ice age.
9. Little Mermaid:
Ariel is a mermaid who has everything and yet yearns for more. She longs to become a young women, who wants the ability to stand and no longer swim. The movie has great music, and scenery.
10. WALL-E:
It is a simple movie about a robot Wall-E who is to clean up trash that has been left by humans on Earth, and it continues with a love story with Eve. Wall-E and Eve eventually land on Axiom, the spaceship that contains what’s left of the human population.

Organically Grown Clothing Review

I was so lucky to be able to review an outfit from Organically Grown’s 2010 line of baby or toddler items. They have some very cute items for babies and toddler’s in their store, and are all reasonably priced. The size of their outfits ranges from newborns all the way to 4T for children. I received a super cute outfit for Mr. Toddler to wear. This is the outfit I was sent.
I was very pleased with this outfit, and noticed how soft it was as soon as I touched it. The cotton is thick and sturdy. Since Mr. Toddler has eczema, I am always looking for natural and soft products for him to wear. The design is adorable, and they have so many other adorable designs to choose from for boys and girls.

ABOUT ORGANICALLY GROWN:
“Driven by our positive spirit, and heartfelt commitment to a healthy planet, we founded the Organically Grown Group. We were raised to believe that we could make a difference, and affect real change in the world. As a young and innovative company, we believe in your right to affordable, safe, stylish, high-quality organic products from apparel and home décor, to personal care items.
Organically Grown has begun to play an active role in the organic revolution. Our apparel is made from organic cotton, which is grown by safe, pesticide-free methods from plants that are not genetically modified. We support the organic farming community and organizations worldwide that are committed to a green, sustainable environment.
There is a direct connection between what we wear and the effect it has on the earth. According to the Organic Exchange, an estimated 170 million pounds of pesticides, and 25% of the world’s insecticides are used in the production of conventional, non-organic cotton. 7 out of 10 of these pesticides are on the EPA’s “known” list of “likely” or “probable” carcinogens. These chemicals result in work-force illnesses, water contamination, and the devastation of farmland. All of the problems are eliminated though organic farming practices. Organically Grown is proud to be a part of the solution.
Organically Grown acts as an educational collective. We sponsor fund-raising events and through the media, we teach consumers about the benefits of living an organic lifestyle.
We are about balance and taking baby steps. We do the best we can today, knowing we will grow with innovation tomorrow. Together, we can make a difference by creating products we are proud of and you are proud to purchase. We hope this will be our green legacy.”

I was sent an outfit by Organically Grown for the purpose of reviewing it. I was not swayed in my opinion by receiving the free product.
